The Custard Hut is a family business owned by Lou & Monica DeScioli and Rich & Lucia Plum.
Vince DeScioli & Justin Plum are taking the reins of operational management,
and are 2nd generation successors to the Custard Hut enterprise.
We purchased our Somers Point store in 1977, and we built our Upper Township store in 1980.
This year we are celebrating 34 years in business!
At Custard Hut, we make Soft Serve Ice Cream desserts such as cones, sundaes,
hand-made shakes, ice cream floats, and chillies (candy mix-ins).
Our soft ice cream base is a 10% milk fat product which means that it is "REAL ICE CREAM."
If you're wondering why soft ice cream tastes so good, it's because unlike hard ice cream,
soft ice cream is never held in freezers;
our customers are enjoying the product fresh at its creation.
We make our own Italian Ice. We reminisce how we survived the hot days of summer as kids,
by slurping down Italian Ices made at various mom-and-pop shops in South Philadelphia.
Our recipes reflect our memories of those delicious ices… with our own special twist.
We serve Gelati: italian ice layered with soft ice cream... a summer time favorite.
And as some customers prefer this item blended, we also make Blended Gelaties.
We also make our own Hand Dipped Ice Cream.
We make Soft Serve Yogurt desserts. Our yogurt base is nonfat, no sugar added.
Customers who are looking for a fat free, no sugar alternative can substitute soft yogurt
for soft ice cream in any of our menu items.
We make Blended Iced Coffee Drinks: cappuccino, latte, caramel latte, and mocha latte.
Our coffee product differs from others on the market because we add ice cream.
We sell Dietz & Watson Hot Dogs.
